A few more hours until daybreak...

So, after a long day enjoying the coastal side of Barcelona, the heavenly room at the Hilton by the Sea was extremely inviting. Hungry and tired, we trudged up to our executive-level room, only to find we had missed the manager's reception by an hour! What would have been free food and drink was now packed up and gone. :( Have I mentioned, Jenny and I are the ultimate budget travelers??

Though we could have opted for a book and a good night's sleep...the okay-what-can-I-experience-now side of me said we really needed to go see what Barcelona had to offer in night life! Who knew when we would have this opportunity again?

Neither of us was up for a whole lot...we felt so relaxed in our abode by the sea! So, after checking e-mails and doing other essential non-essentials, we headed over to consult with the front desk staff. What could/should 2 women do with one night in Barcelona? (and not sing "One night in Bangkok..."!) We quickly ruled out places that posed too much danger, even if I did speak the language. We were still obvious tourists.

After much consideration, we headed via metro (this was an interesting experience, above-ground and through town) to the Olympic area, which promised restaurants, dancing, and local flavor.

Since it was so late when we got started, we found that we couldn't get "just a quick bite" - it was hora de la cena - the Spaniards eat a full course dinner late in the evening. It was a bit pricey and we weren't that hungry!

We walked by all of the discotheques, not quite getting in the groove...

So we settled on a good pitcher of Barcelona's best Sangria, and watched the rest of the world fill up on dinner and then go dance it off. The coastal breeze was blowing, music was playing, and the Sangria was ranking up there...

Tomorrow would be my final visit in Barcelona, BABY!
