It's off to camp...
Ian took his trombone, a small duffel bag (!), a pillow and a sleeping bag and headed to band camp for a week.
It is a little weird for me. I spent 8 years in the Licking County 4H band, the only 4H band known of in the US. To have him join and be a part of this great organization is great...but still weird for me!
Since I remember very clearly my first day and week at camp back in the 6th grade, I can just imagine how his days are going...sleeping (or not) in the cabin, getting to know your friends (or learning what you don't like about them!), meeting new people, playing music for the tree audience until you think even they must be tired of hearing you!
He did send me a text message the first day -does this count as sending your mom a letter from camp?
"Hi we are getting ready to eat dinner then we are going to Vesper hill and lighting a candle or something and then it is lights out having fun bye."
Either way, I can't wait to hear all about it when he gets home!
