Have you ever noticed that your kids inherit traits that you never expected?

Things that don't make sense?

Things that really make you laugh? They have nothing to do with genetics.

Well, there is this one thing I discovered. Maybe it is shared by many, but it was something that I have always enjoyed and never really thought anyone would share. One of those really random and silly things. And while on vacation, I found out that my 13 year old son shares this enjoyment, and I can't figure out when he developed it or how!

We call it "Bag Fries". Yep, that's right, "Bag Fries".

I think it is like drinking milk from the jug (eww, I don't do that! But have known others). Or Coke from those little glass bottles that used to be the norm (I don't like Coke but have seen this repeatedly in other people). Or licking the batter from the bowl.

It just TASTES BETTER! Doesn't it!!!

Well...so I have always had this thing...fries that fall inside the bottom of the bag just taste better! Really! Sometimes I get a bag where not a fry has been spilled, and it's just not the same. You can HAVE the ones in the package, I WANT THE ONES IN THE BAG!

As you can imagine, there is now conflict where there once was none. I now have to share the bag fries with Ian. Wow. The ultimate sacrifice.

And that, my friends, is what vacation is all about. Getting to know your family in ways you never imagined.
